Xils Lab heeft de Xils V+ synthesizer aangekondigd. De softwaremaker zegt hier op de informatiepagina niets over, mogelijk om problemen met Roland te voorkomen, maar deze VST-plug-in is geïnspireerd op de Roland VP-330 synthesizer/vocoder uit 1979. Deze is volgens Vintage Synth Explorer onder andere gebruikt in de muziek van Underworld en Vangelis.

Als je een geweldige loop hebt van 8 maten, dan kan het nog een hele stap zijn om hiervan een complete track te maken. In de onderstaande video van Music Production Tutorials laat Danny Lewis de methode van subtractief arrangeren uit. Door de loop eerst te kopiëren over de totale lengte van je track en daarna fragmenten van clips weg te halen of te wijzigen kun je de basis van je track vormgeven.From a great 8 bar loop to a complete track can be a huge step for some of us. In the video below Music Production Tutorials’s Danny Lewis shows the method of subtractive arrangement to create a complete track with an 8 bar loop. By copying the loop over the entire length of the track, and by taking snippets of clips away you can create the basic structure of a new track.

Met zogenaamde dummy clips kun je interessante effecten maken in Ableton Live. Met de nieuwste versie van dit pakket is dit nu gemakkelijker dan ooit omdat de automatisering nu ook in de Session View clips kan worden opgenomen.With dummy clips you can create interesting effects in Ableton Live. In deze video produceert Sadowick in ongeveer een uur een basisarrangement van een trance-track met Ableton Live 9, een paar sample packs, Sylenth en een Access Virus Snow. Opvallend is dat hij start in de (lineaire) Arrangement View van Ableton Live, waar veel anderen in de Session View starten om hun eerste ideeën in te schetsen.It is always interesting to see how others create their tracks. Met Geco, een app voor de Leap Motion Controller, kunnen synthesizers vanaf deze zomer worden bediend met handgebaren, zoals in het onderstaande filmpje is te zien. Dit werkt met midi. Hopelijk is de latency laag genoeg.With Geco, an app for the Leap Motion Controller, synthesizers can be controlled with gestures, like shown in the video below. This works with MIDI. Hopefully the latency will be low enough.

Een paar jaar geleden heeft Arturia de Spark drummachine uitgebracht. Met SparkLE is sinds kort ook een compactere versie beschikbaar. Deze is lekker overzichtelijk en intuïtief te gebruiken, zodat je met de meegeleverde drumsoftware snel een paar elektronische beats zult maken.
