Tijdens het Noorderslag Festival in Groningen is de website Chordify gelanceerd. Met Chordify kun je de akkoorden van populaire liedjes opsporen. Dat is niet alleen handig voor coverbandjes, maar ook voor het zoeken naar interessante akkoordenschema’s voor je eigen composities.
Chordify kan akkoorden van liedjes weergeven die op SoundCloud of YouTube staan, of van liedjes die op je computer staan. De video loopt gewoon mee via de site zelf. Ook kunnen loops in de song worden gemaakt om telkens opnieuw af te spelen. Handig om een stukje te oefenen dat je nog niet onder de knie hebt, of om de akkoorden van een bepaald gedeelte van de song te zien.
Gitaristen kunnen ook de bijbehorende grepen voor hun instrument bekijken. Het zou helemaal fantastisch zijn als Chordify ook meteen de midi van de songs ter download beschikbaar stelt, zodat je het akkoordenschema direct in een sequencer kunt importeren. Maar ook zonder deze feature is het echt een leuke tool voor muzikanten en componisten.
Chordify has been released during the Noorderslag Festival in Groningen (The Netherlands). Chordify detects the chords of popular songs. This is not only useful for cover bands, but also for finding interesting chord progressions for your own compositions.
Chordify can find chords of songs on Soundcloud or YouTube, or songs uploaded from your computer. While the detected chords are shown, the video runs just along. You can also create a loop of a song section. That’s very useful to exercise a piece that you have not yet mastered, or to take a look at the chords of a certain part of the song.
Guitarists can also view the guitar diagrams of the detected chords. It would be great if Chordify also created a MIDI file of the chords for import into a sequencer on the computer. But even without a MIDI feature, it is really a nice tool for musicians and composers.
