Midi hardware met Reason 7

Een van de meest in het oog springende features van Reason 7 is dat je nu ook hardware kunt aansturen met midi. De mogelijkheden hiervan worden in de onderstaande video door Propellerhead Software gedemonstreerd. Aardig in dit voorbeeld is het gebruik van de Mopho synthesizer van Dave Smith Instruments. De maker van deze monophone analoge synthesizer, Dave Smith, heeft begin jaren 80 het midi-systeem bedacht en geïntroduceerd. One of the most interesting features of Reason 7 is that you can control MIDI hardware now. This is demonstrated by Propellerhead Software in the video below. A nice detail in this demonstration is the appearance of the Dave Smith Instruments Mopho synthesizer. The creator of this monophonic analog synthesizer, Dave Smith, introduced the MIDI system in the early 80’s.

Freemasons demonstreert parallelle effecten in Reason 7

James Wiltshire van Freemasons demonstreert in deze video de voordelen van parallelle effecten met behulp van Reason 7. In Reason 7, dat op 30 april aanstaande wordt uitgebracht, is de toepassing van parallelle effecten als compressie nog eenvoudiger geworden met behulp van de mixer die is geïnspireerd op de beroemde SSL-mixconsole.James Wiltshire of Freemasons demonstrates the benefits of parallel effects processing in this video. Kilohearts heeft Faturator uitgebracht als RE-plug-in voor Reason. Deze distortion plug-in is eenvoudig in gebruik en schijnt erg goed te klinken. De reviews op internet zijn positief.

Een paar maanden geleden werd Rack Extensions (RE) geïntroduceerd door Propellerhead Software, het nieuwe plug-in-formaat dat speciaal is ontwikkeld voor Reason. Nu de eerste RE’s zijn verschenen valt op dat deze plug-ins de cpu veel meer belasten dan andere plug-in-formaten. Zo is de cpu-belasting van de RE’s ongeveer tot twee keer zo hoog als vergelijkbare VST-plug-ins.
