Mini review: TAL-U-NO-LX – the virtual Roland Juno 60

Many VST instruments are released these days, it is almost impossible to keep up. Fortunately, original plug-ins are still launched. Last week Togu Audio Line released its first commercial synthesizer plug-in against the great introductory price of $ 35 (normal price: $ 70).

The TAL-U-NO-LX is an emulation of the Roland Juno 60 hardware synthesizer from the eighties. This VST plug-in is an easy synth with a nice simple interface without any additional tabs. All buttons are placed on one screen, as can be seen in the picture above. Among the 300 presets you will also find a bank of presets from the original hardware (Factory Bank A).

Interestingly, the U-NO-LX (LX stands for the Roman number 60 ;) ) has little effects on board. Only a simple chorus is present. But those two chorus controls directly give a very thick sound!

We have never tried the Roland Juno 60 hardware synth and therefore can not judge whether this is a good emulation. Probably, the TAL-U-NO-LX comes close enough. At the KVR Audio forum there are almost nothing but positive reactions about this synthesizer.

The synthesizer sounds excellent and has a unique sound. It is highly recommended. The nice sounds invite you to play hours and hours with it. It has lots of presets, but it’s easy to quickly create your own sounds. You are also invited to do so, because of the simple Startup preset.

The effects are not directly missed. Of course you can find plenty effects by third parties or in your favorite sequencer. We created a special Ableton Instrument Rack, so that the U-NO-LX boots directly with our favorite effects.

Don’t you like the standard reverb of your sequencer? Then try the fantastic sounding attractively priced reverb ValhallaRoom for a heavenly effect (preset: Den – Bladerunner)!

Score: 9/10

  • unique sound;
  • easy to use interface;
  • low price.

  • Some effects are missing
